Larger Kitchens.
Homebuyers want more room to move. Larger gourmet kitchens with large islands and bigger breakfast area and bar seating are the place for families to reconnect. The larger kitchen also allows room for desks for homework, paying bills and working at home.

Luxury Owners Suites.
The master bedroom has become the luxury owners suite. Look for gracious sleeping areas and sitting rooms and retreats large enough to be a separate bedroom. Also included are bathrooms with double vanities, dual walk-in closets, edgeless showers with four-sided tile, massage shower heads and spa tubs.

Mixed Use Living.
Today’s lifestyles include neighborhoods where people can interact with their neighbors and have easy accessibility to shopping and activities. Look to find new mixed-use neighborhoods like One Ivy Walk in Atlanta, with shopping centers that include boutiques, grocery stores and other shops and restaurants right at your fingertips.

Blended Indoor/Outdoor Living Areas.
Homebuyers want homes that blend indoor and outdoor living areas. Look for screened porches, open outdoor cooking areas and patios with outdoor fireplaces that let you enjoy the great outdoors year-round.
|
|
Vertical Living.
Many homebuyers are living up instead of out with homes adding space vertically. Look for elevators in townhomes where space goes up instead of out. Many new townhomes are built with three and four floors, and elevators make these floors more accessible.
|
|
Flex Spaces.
Flex spaces allow families to adjust to their ever- changing needs year after year. They are great for homebuyers with kids. When kids are small, flex spaces are playrooms, and when they grow up, they become study rooms. When kids leave, they become spare bedrooms for friends they bring home. Look for flex spaces to be used for home offices, dens, rec rooms.

|
Green Design.
Protecting the environment is important and homebuyers are demanding that homebuilders go green in their designs. Look for eco-friendly carpet which are less petroleum-based, kitchen appliances offering more energy efficiency and innovative HVAC systems which save money and conserve energy.

Technology Upgrades.
Technology has made a huge impact on the way we live, work and play. It's no wonder technology upgrades are big home design trends. Today's homes feature upgraded WiFi, digital audio/video, security and communications packages.
